BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Trinity University women earned a 2-1 win over Mount Union to advance to the second round of the 2016 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament.
The Raiders (12-7-3) got on the board first, with Nicole Lanese scoring in the 12th minute. It took less than three minutes, however, for Trinity (21-0) to answer with a goal by Brigitte Taylor. Jordan Leeper set up the score, sending a free kick into the box before Taylor knocked it in.
The two teams remained knotted at halftime, but the conference's leading goal-scorer, Yasmeen Farra, sent in her seventh game winner of the season to give Trinity a lead that would hold through the remaining 30 minutes.
Trinity outshot Mount Union 28-6, including a 16-2 advantage in the second half.
The Tigers will face Hanover College (14-5) on Sunday at 2 pm. Hanover beat the host Illinois Wesleyan 2-1 in overtime Saturday.
