MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Eight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes were named to the D3football.com national Team of the Week. Austin College's Allen Wise, Alex Mannari, Tony Martinez, Chris Donovan, Austin Light as well as DePauw's Alex Koors, Millsaps' David Dale and Trinity's Evan Reville were selected for their play in week two.
The Kangaroos offensive line of Wise, Mannari, Martinez, Donovan and Light cleared the way for Austin College to pile up 409 yards with an average of 5.9 yards per carry and three touchdowns in a win against McMurry. For the year, the 'Roo offensive line is helping the team rush for 325 yards per game and has given up just one sack.
Koors, a wide receiver, had 12 catches for 209 yards and three touchdowns in a win against Anderson. It was a career-high in receptions and tied for sixth best DePauw single-game performance. The 209 yards rank fifth in school history and the three touchdown receptions equaled a school record. In the first quarter alone, Koors caught 10 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns. Four of his receptions went for 20 or more yards.
Dale, a defensive lineman, set a Millsaps single-game record and tied a conference record with 4.5 sacks against Belhaven as part of six total team sacks in the game, adding eight tackles, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble in the 27-10 win.
Reville, a safety, Reville picked up a fourth-quarter fumble and returned it 31 yards to set up Trinity's offense for an improbable comeback. Reville's long return put the Tiger offense just 18 yards from the end zone, and the ensuing TD cut it to a 21-19 deficit. All of this made it possible for Trinity's game-winning field goal as time expired.
