ATLANTA, Ga.
 – The Oglethorpe University men’s golf team, winners of the 2009 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship held last May in Port St. Lucie, Florida, received their National Championship rings in a ceremony held at the historic East Lake Golf Club on Wednesday, March 31.

The ceremony commemorated the Stormy Petrels’ historic come-from-behind victory at the PGA Villages in Port St. Lucie to secure the school’s first National Championship in any sport and included each member of the team and coaching staff receiving their Championship rings from the NCAA and Oglethorpe President Dr. Lawrence M. Schall. The team also presented Dr. Schall with the National Championship trophy to be held in Oglethorpe’s athletic archives. The event was sponsored by Blue Cross / Blue Shield, Chick-fil-A, The Coca-Cola Company, Ernst & Young, Invesco, Southern Company and SunTrust.
