Austin College cruised to a 3-1 win over the University of Dallas in the team’s only match of the week, improving to 5-3-1 overall this season in the process. The ‘Roos got three goals in the first 39 minutes and never looked back, dominating the Crusaders with a 25-7 shot advantage. Ali Ryan got things started for the ‘Roos with a diving header off a feed from Mackenzie Lund in the 10th minute, and just over four minutes later Shelley Casey blasted a shot into the upper right corner to make it a 2-0 game. The third goal came at the 39:09 mark when Gabby Mavelian found Kelsey D’Amore for the score to make it 3-0. The Crusaders would score less than a minute later but would not be able to get any closer. Kaitlin Elledge made four stops in goal for the ‘Roos.

Birmingham-Southern did not surrender a goal all weekend in their two victories over Rhodes and Hendrix at BSC Soccer Park. Friday’s match with Rhodes finished 4-0 and Sunday’s matchup with Hendrix ended 2-0. Both Alicia Plotky and Serena Murphy netted scores in each game, with Plotky tallying 7 points in the two games. The wins were sorely needed to push the Panthers back above the water line after falling in overtime to Emory on Tuesday night, getting BSC back to .500 at 4-4. They will take the show on the road this week at Sewanee and Oglethorpe. They play at 5:00 p.m. on Friday in Sewanee and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday in Atlanta.

Centre split on the road this weekend winning 2-0 at Oglethorpe and losing 1-0 at Sewanee. Centre's next matches will be at home for their Family Weekend Friday and Saturday, October 2nd and 3rd. Friday night Centre hosts Austin College with kickoff slated for 8pm. Saturday evening Centre faces the University of Dallas at 7pm.

DePauw picked up their second win of the season over the weekend and picked up a tie for a total of four points good enough for a tie for second in the conference. On Friday the DU Tigers tied in a tough scoreless match against Sewanee on the Mountain. DePauw was able to find the back of the net on Sunday led by two goals from Alex Her defeating Oglethorpe 4-0. DePauw will be back in action this weekend as the Tigers host University of Dallas and Austin College in Greencastle.

Hendrix College split this weekend’s matches with a 1-0 win over Millsaps on Friday night before dropping a 0-2 affair to Birmingham-Southern on Sunday afternoon. The Warriors now stand alone atop the SCAC with a 6-2 overall mark and 2-0 SCAC record (best start to SCAC season in program history). One goal from Hendrix first year forward Ashley Gallegos is all the Warriors would need to earn their third consecutive victory and post a 1-0 route of Millsaps. Gallegos scored her team-high fifth goal of the year by putting the ball over the keeper’s head off a through ball from sophomore midfielder Hannah McGrew in the 33rd minute. Hendrix sophomore keeper Allison Mosley recorded four saves for her sixth shutout of the year. All six of Hendrix’s wins have come off shutouts from Mosley. Birminham-Southern used a pair of second half goals to seal the deal on Sunday. Sophomore forward Alicia Plotky scored in the 50th minute off an assist from sophomore midfielder Jillian Theibert. Senior forward Serena Murphy put the final ball past the keeper off an assist from Plotky in the 68th minute. McGrew paced the squad with four shots, all on-goal, and junior midfielder Amelia Wildenborg had two chances on-goal for the Warriors.

Millsaps (5-2-2, 0-1-1 SCAC) ended a tough weekend at home 0-1-1 to begin SCAC play. Friday night at Harper Davis Field, the Majors saw their three-game home unbeaten streak fall as visiting Hendrix College took away a 1-0 win with a goal in the 36th minute. Millsaps looked to rebound against the defending conference champions from Rhodes College Sunday afternoon, but played to a scoreless 0-0 draw in double overtime. The Majors will hit the road this weekend for conference matches with Oglethorpe University Friday afternoon and Sewanee on Sunday afternoon.

Oglethorpe opened up SCAC play at home over the weekend against tough competition in Centre and DePauw respectively. Oglethorpe fell on Friday afternoon 2-0 to the Colonels before falling 4-0 on Sunday to DePauw. Oglethorpe will be back in action this weekend as the Petrels host SCAC rivals Millsaps and Birmingham-Southern.

Rhodes was defeated by Birmingham Southern in rain soaked Birmingham, AL 4-0. The Panthers scored early on a goal by Sara Menton. Both teams would battle through the rest of the half, each struggling to find good scoring opportunities. The second half would be all BSC, scoring 3 more goals by the end of the game. Alicia Plotky, Serena Murphy, and Linda Amaya would score for the Panthers. Lynx goalkeepers Becca Clarin and Stephanie Sermonet, both conceding two goals. After 110 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Lynx and the Majors ended in a tie. Both teams struggled to find quality chances throughout the game. Millsaps had their best opportunity midway through the 2nd half. A quick interchange of passes in the Rhodes penalty box, ended with the Major's shot coming off the near post. The Lynx would have a good opportunity in the 2nd half as well. Freshmen Betsy Peterson's (Knoxville, TN) header was saved off the line by Sarah Nelin. The overtime periods would prove to more of the same, with both teams only registering 1 shot each. Senior Becca Clarin (Clarendon Hills, IL) made 8 saves for the Lynx, while Nelin made 4 saves for the Majors. The Lynx will return to SCAC play in two weeks when they host Centre College on Oct. 9th.

Sewanee remained unbeaten this weekend as the Tigers played to a 0-0 draw with DePaue Friday and then topped Centre 1-0 on Sunday. Freshman goalie Britt Williams earned both shutouts in goal and has earned five shutouts in six games this year. She has only allowed one goal all year and has logged 24 saves as well. La'Toyi Slay scored the game-winning goal for Sewanee on Sunday and has scored the game-winner in two of Sewanee's last three games. The Tigers are 5-0-1 and 1-0-1 in the SCAC. They will host Birmingham-Southern and Millsaps next weekend.

Southwestern split non-conference action this weekend in California, falling 5-0 to #7 regionally-ranked UC-Santa Cruz and then defeating the University of LaVerne 2-1. In game one, Southwestern held with the Slugs in the first half, taking three shots to UCSC’s six, but were unable to find the back of the net while the Banana Slugs made the most of their few shots in the first half to go into half time 3-0. The Pirates rebounded from the loss to take on the University of LaVerne on Saturday. They returned to their recipe for success by scoring six minutes into the contest off a corner kick by senior Laura Kromann that found senior A.J. Andreola to give SU the 1-0 lead. LaVerne responded with a goal of their own eight minutes later to bring the game back even at 1-1, but it didn’t last long as sophomore Maria Pollifrone scored unassisted just thirty seconds later to put Southwestern back on top for the 2-1 win. The Pirates move to 7-2 on the season and will use the momentum and new level of competition to their advantage as they return to SCAC conference action on October 9th as they face Millsaps in Jackson, MS.

No. 6 Trinity shut out NAIA’s Our Lady of the Lake University 3-0 on Friday night – the team’s only action from the past week. Brianna Young scored the eventual game-winner in the 18th minute, tying for the team lead with her third GW goal of the year. Also scoring were defender Danika Wright and Kelly Watts. Abigail Loar and Allyson Thrall both contributed assists in the game. The Tiger defense gave up just five total shots to OLLU, recording the team’s sixth shutout of the season. Trinity will not play again this week, but will return to action the following weekend, travelling to Birmingham-Southern and Millsaps for a weekend of SCAC play.
