HERSHEY Pa. - Oglethorpe posted the low round of the day and tournament at the 2010 Men's Golf Championships to jump from eighth to fourth place in their quest to defend the National Championship. Centre posted its low round of the tournament (304) but fell to 13th at the conclusion of the third round.
The Petrels fired a superb team-total of 286 (-2) to pass four teams and pull into position for a stellar finish to the 2010 Championships. Despite the phenomenal round, Oglethorpe was only able to gain one stroke on frontrunning Methodist, who will enter tomorrow's final round with a 13 stroke advantage.
Scott Pugh carded a 1-over par 73 and sits in a tie for 11th place overall. Eric Quinn continued his hot play by posting a 69 (-3) and has jumped all the way up into a tie for 13th place. Craig Stevenson eagled the par 5 number nine on his final hole of the day to card a one-under 71 and Matt Rebitch turned in a steady round of 73 to round out the Petrels scoring on the day.
Centre junior Chris Morris is currently tied for fifth place after he shot a 72 for the third round to give him a total score of 217. On the first day Morris recorded a 75 and in the second round he shot a 70.
Freshman Patrick Davidson also recorded a 72 for the day giving him an overall score of 232. Senior Chris Conkright had an 87 on the day for the Colonels and sophomore Randy Boll finished with a 78. Junior Lyndon Jones recorded a 82 in the third round.
Tain Lee from Claremont Mudd Springs has remained in first through the first three rounds of play as he has shot a 210.
