DANIELLE PEDRAZA OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a sophomore outfielder from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 5 through Sunday, April 10. SCAC Softball Release - Week 10
Pedraza was outstanding at the plate last weekend as the Mountaineers extended their SCAC win streak to six following a three-game sweep of Dallas. She hit .818 going 9-for-11 against the Crusaders with four RBI, four doubles, one stolen base and an impressive 1.455 slugging percentage.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year third basemen Jaelyn Simmons of St. Thomas continued her stellar rookie campaign against TLU last weekend going 4-for-10 at the plate with one home run and one RBI. She walked once and posted a .455 on-base percentage and slugged .800. Senior infielder Maddie Mefford of Southwestern led the Pirates at the plate last weekend in a 2-1 series win over Centenary. In the deciding game three, Mefford smashed a two-run home run in the fifth inning to lift Southwestern to a 3-1 victory. For the series, Mefford finished with a .500 batting average, going 5-for-10 with three RBI and one run scored. First-year infielder Faith Hernandez of Texas Lutheran was a force at the plate for the Bulldogs hitting .556 (5-for-9) for the weekend with two RBI and registering two walks to finish with a .636 on-base percentage for the weekend. Sophomore third baseman Marina Delaluna of Trinity had a stellar weekend at the plate over the weekend. She went 4-for-7 in the three-game series against Austin College, blasting a three-run homer in the first inning of game two to help Trinity coast to a 5-1 victory. Delaluna then crushed another three-run home run in the third game of the series. With last weekend's performance, Delaluna is now hitting .307 on the season.
