DREW HERMESMEYER OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a graduate student from Goldwaite, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played through Tuesday, February 20. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 1)
Hermesmeyer finished as tournament runner-up at the spring opening TPC San Antonio DIII Shoot-out, contested over the Canyons and Oaks courses at the TPC San Antonio. He shot rounds of 72-36-75 to finish at 183 (+3), three shots behind the tournament medalist Aaron Buck of Redlands. Hermesmeyer led the field in Par 4 scoring (+3) and finished with seven birdies (tied for third) and 28 pars (tied for fifth) among the 47 player field. His performance led the Mountaineers to a third-place team finish, just eight shots behind team champion Redlands (+31) and three shots from fellow SCAC member Southwestern (+36).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Ethan Bridges of Southwestern carded a one-under, 71, in his final round of the San Antonio DIII Shoot-out on the Oaks Course, ending his week with a total score of 184 (+4). First-year Michael Zhang of Dallas fired his best round of the tournament, finishing Tuesday's final 18 with a 75, to post a 45-hole score of 189 (+9) and in sixth place alone at the San Antonio DIII Shoot-out. Junior Marshall Hatcher of St. Thomas fired rounds of 78-39-82 to finish at 199 (+19) and in 28th place to pace the Celts at the San Antonio DIII Shoot-out.
