Brandenburg Named BSN Athlete of the Week

LEESBURG, Va. - 
Texas Lutheran University place-kicker Tyler Brandenburg was one of four NCAA Division III football players named as Special Teams Players of the Week by the Beyond Sports Network.

Brandenburg matched his career-best for single-game field goals with three field goals Saturday against Hardin-Simmons. He has made three field goals in each of the last two games, and he has connected on six consecutive field goal tries.

Brandenburg made a career-best 40-yarder in the second quarter. He added 25 and 30-yarders in the first quarter. He also was 5-for-5 on extra-point attempts and punted four times for 134 yards (33.5 per punt).

In 2013, Brandenburg is 10-for-15 on field goal attempts. He has made 42 of 43 extra-points. Brandenburg leads TLU and the SCAC in scoring, with 72 points.

In the NCAA Division III, Brandenburg ranks seventh in field goals per game (1.3) and 42nd in scoring per game (9.0).

The Bulldogs (7-1) conclude the 2013 regular season with a 1 p.m. home game Saturday against Howard Payne (4-5). The Bulldogs will honor their seniors during a pre-game ceremony on the field.

TLU will have live video and live stats on tlubulldogs.com for Saturday's game at Matador Stadium. Seguin radio station KWED 1580 AM will have the radio call and an audio-only webcast on seguintoday.com.

Saturday's game in Matador Stadium will be the Bulldogs' final game at the Seguin ISD facility. TLU will open its new on-campus football and track and field stadium for the 2014 season.
