KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Trinity Tigers junior midfielder Victor Araujo has received a high honor from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Araujo was selected as the Disney Soccer/NSCAA Division III Men's Player of the Week for his performance at last week's Trinity games on the road.
The 6-foot, 178-pound Araujo ignited the 23rd-ranked Tigers to two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victories last week, as Trinity defeated the University of Dallas 6-0 and Colorado College 5-1.
Earlier, Araujo was honored by the conference as the SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
His soccer skills were especially sharp against Colorado College. With the game tied at 1-1, Araujo broke the impasse by scoring or assisting on all four of the Tigers' second-half goals. Araujo dished out the assist of the game-winner, after 3:49 had elapsed into the second half. He then blasted in back-to-back goals, and assisted on another, in a span of only 16 minutes of game time.
Araujo leads the Tigers with five goals this season, and has chalked up four assists, for a total of 14 points.
Trinity (8-2-1, 6-1-0 SCAC) concludes its regular-season home campaign with two conference games next weekend. The Tigers meet the University of Dallas at 7 p.m. Friday, and Colorado College at noon Sunday.
