LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - For the second time this season, senior Robert Kitzinger of the Trinity University has earned SCAC Player of the Week for his outstanding efforts on the court this past weekend.

KITZINGER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior guard
from Carmel, Ind., has been selected the SCAC Men’s
Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January
20th through Sunday, January 26th.
Kitzinger led Trinity to a pair of SCAC road wins
over the weekend, vaulting the Tigers into first place in the SCAC
standings.
Kitzinger averaged 26.5 points and 5.5 rebounds
per game in victories over Dallas and Colorado College. He
shot an unbelievable 70.8% (17-24) from the field and hit 9-12
(75%) from beyond the arc for the weekend, as well as connecting on
all 10 of his free throw attempts.
On Friday night at Dallas, Kitzinger scored a
team season-best and career-high 33 points to lead Trinity to a
narrow win, hitting 10-12 from the field and 5-6 from three-point
range and 8-8 from the foul line. He followed that with a
20-point night at Colorado on Saturday.
For the season, Kitzinger leads Trinity with 15.8
points/game and is now shooting 40.2% (80-199) from the field.
His 39 three-point buckets also lead the Tigers, and he is
connecting on 36.8% (39-106) from distance. Kitzinger is also
shooting a team-best 89.5% (85-95) from the free throw
line.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior guard Ransom
Okpala of Austin College had an historic weekend for Austin
College, becoming just the 18th player in Kangaroo men’s
basketball history to surpass 1,000 career points as he averaged
20.0 points in two games as the ‘Roos split with Schreiner
and Texas Lutheran, handing the Mountaineers their first conference
loss of the year. Senior
guard Jonathan Blount of Centenary led the Gents with 46
total points (23 ppg) including a three-pointer with 14 seconds
left to secure the victory over SU and register his 19th points.
Senior guard Ryan Milne
of Colorado College averaged 16.0 points, 4.3 assists and
2.67 rebounds per game to lead Colorado College to a 2-1 record
last week. Junior forward
Aaron Wyatt of Dallas averaged 15.5 points/game to go with
6.5 rebounds to lead the Crusaders to a 1-1 weekend. Senior guard AJ Myres of
Schreiner had 45 points (22.5 ppg), 6 rebounds, 5
assists, and 3 steals on the weekend, with 27 points against Austin
College and Centenary. Senior forward Sean Myers of
Southwestern averaged 14.5 points per game in just 21
minutes per game, shooting 58% from the floor (10-17). Freshman guard Jordan Kouremetis of
Texas Lutheran averaged 26.5 points per game while shooting
better than 55 percent from the field. It was his work from long
range that really stood out as he knocked down 11-of-16 from
three-point range.
