DENVER, Colo. - Trinity University's Lance Key has been named the CaptainU Fall 2013 Division III Women's Soccer Coach of the Year.

CaptainU is a youth and college sports network which bridges sports and technology by connecting approximately 750,000 student-athletes. Top coaches in their respective sports were selected for their teams' inspiring and successful performances both on and off the field.

Coach Key and his Tiger team certainly lived up to those high standards during the 2013 campaign. Trinity advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship game, played in December at San Antonio's Toyota Field. The Tigers completed the year with a 25-1-2 record and set a school mark for victories in a season.

The Tigers competed in their fifth straight NCAA Tournament, and the ninth in the past 10 years. Trinity also won an eighth Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship under Coach Key's leadership.

Coach Key was elected the SCAC Coach of the Year for the sixth time in his 10-year tenure by his peers.

Two players - Emily Jorgens and Kelsey Falcone - were elected to National Soccer Coaches Association of America and D3soccer.com All-America Teams. Jorgens also was named the Capital One Academic All-American of the Year, and received the NCAA Elite 89 Award for the highest grade point average at the semifinals and final. Jennifer White and Shelby Guenthardt joined Jorgens on the national Academic All-America Team.

The Tigers also received an NSCAA Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Silver Award. The award is presented to teams which accumulate no red cards, and a maximum of five yellow cards during the season. Trinity drew only four cautions in 28 matches this past season.
