Centenary's Alexander, Coker; Schreiner's De La Torre Named SCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - In an exciting conclusion to the regular season, Centenary's Madison Alexander and Erica Coker as well as Schreiner's Lizeth De La Torre were named SCAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week for Week 10.

 

 





SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of October 28th – November 3rd

MADISON ALEXANDER OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a sophomore forward from Keller, Texas has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 28th through Sunday, November 3rd. 

Alexander scored both goals for the Ladies in the 2-1, overtime win at Austin College that propelled the Maroon and White into the SCAC Championship against Texas Lutheran. 

Alexander joins Carly Slovensky as the only two Ladies to record multiple-goal efforts this season.

For the season, Alexander is second on the team with nine points, three goals, and three assists for the Centenary Ladies.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman midfielder Monique Hutchseon of Schreiner had the game winning goal against Texas Lutheran. Junior midfielder Emily Jorgens of Trinity picked up a goal and four assists in the two wins, defeating both Southwestern and UC-Santa Cruz. Austin College, Dallas, Schreiner, and Southwestern did not nominate anyone.

 

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ERICA COKER OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a freshman goalkeeper from Frisco, Texas, and LIZETH DE LA TORRE OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior goalkeeper from San Antonio, Texas, have been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Co-Defensive Players-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 28th through Sunday, November 3rd. 

Coker collected ten saves en route to her fifth win of the season. The freshman faced 23 shot attempts from the Roos with 11 coming on goal in the contest. 

For the season, Coker ranks second in the conference in saves and is tops among freshmen keepers this season with 107.

De La Torre had two saves in the must-have shutout victory over Texas Lutheran University. The Mountaineers needed the win over the Bulldogs, in order, to place in the SCAC Conference Tournament, but were beaten out by Centenary College.

For the season, De La Torre leads the SCAC in saves per game with an average of 7.21 per game. She is leading the Mountaineers with 101 saves on the year.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore midfielder Emily Donnan of Trinity led the Tiger defense that only allowed just two shots in the win over the Pirates, and she also added an assist on the second goal of the game early in the first half. Austin College, Dallas, Southwestern, and Texas Lutheran did not nominate anyone.
