Three SCAC Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-American At-Large Honors

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - Colorado College men's swimmer Kaleb Roush and Trinity University men’s swimmer Stephen Culberson and women’s diver Katie Sheldon have been elected to the Capital One Academic Division III All-American At-Large Teams.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution.

On the women's side, Sheldon is a senior biology major with a 3.76 GPA who earned a shot on the second team. During the NCAA Championships, Sheldon recorded an eighth-place finish in the 1-meter event, achieving All-America honors for the third time on the low board.

On the men's side, Culberson is a junior business administration major with a 3.52 grade point average as he earned a spot on the second team. Last March, Culberson captured the NCAA Division III men’s 100-yard freestyle national championship. He became Trinity’s first swimmer to win a national crown, and the sixth Tiger individual to take home a Division III Championship. Culberson also earned All-America honors in the 50-yard freestyle, and Honorable Mention All-America accolades with his teammates in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Roush is a senior Biochemistry major with a 3.99 GPA who was named to the third team. Roush was a SCAC Character and Community selection earlier in March for his efforts outside the pool. Roush claimed a 12th place finish in the 200 IM at the SCAC Championships in 2014 as well as a eighth place finish in the 200 breast, a sixth place finish in the 400 IM, and a fifth place finish in the 400 yard medley relay.
