CODY MYERS OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a sophomore pitcher from Friendswood, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, March 25 through Sunday, March 31. It is the second consecutive week Myers has received the honor. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 8
Myers continued his stellar play last week for the Gents, picking up a complete game shutout victory in Thursday’s 7-0 victory over Schreiner. The left-hander went the distance on the hill, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out seven in nine innings of work. With the impressive outing, Myers improved to 6-1 on the season with an 0.82 ERA.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior right-hander Joseph Chavana of Trinity took a no-hitter into the eighth inning in Thursday’s 6-0 victory over St. Thomas. He finished his outing with no runs allowed and just one hit over 7.2 innings while striking out eight. Junior pitcher Greg Ferguson of Southwestern led the Pirates to a 6-5 rebound win over Dallas last Friday, allowing three earned runs over six innings of work. Ferguson scattered five hits with no walks and struck out nine. Junior right-hander Diego Vinton of Texas Lutheran tossed his first career complete game shutout as the Bulldogs swept Austin College over the weekend. The right-hander went 7.0 innings and allowed just four hits while striking out three in the 15-0 win.
