DREW BENNETT OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior from Bossier City, La., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, March 5 through Tuesday, March 11. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 5)

Bennett tied for first place to lead the Gents' men's golf team to a sixth-place finish on Tuesday at the Fabric Solutions and Technologies Pinecrest Invitational hosted by LeTourneau University at the Pinecrest Country Club. Bennett and three golfers finished in a four-way tie for first place at 5-under par 211 and UT Dallas' Parker McCurdy defeated LeTourneau's Corbin Barton with a birdie putt on the fourth playoff hole to claim the individual title. Bennett shot consecutive rounds of 69 on Monday before finishing with a final round 73 on Tuesday. 

Bennett now owns a trio of career outright wins, Tuesday's tie for an individual title, 10 top-five finishes, and 13 top-10 finishes as he continues to add to his legacy as the program's top golfer in the Division III era.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Parker Smith of Concordia (Texas) took medalist honors at the Shenandoah Spring Fling, firing rounds of 71 and 73 for a two-day total of 144 (+4), to lead the Tornados to the team title. Smith, who had five birdies across his two rounds, finished five shots clear of his teammate Christopher Reitmeyer on the individual leaderboard. Junior Neal Sandu of Trinity paced the Tigers at the CLU Kingsmen Invitational, finishing tied for second at even par 144 for the two-round event. Sandu had rounds of 69 and 75 as he led Trinity to third place finish in a field that featured seven teams ranked in the top 50. Senior Tobey Wills of Texas Lutheran closed strong at the CLU Kingsmen Invitational, carding a final round 70 (which tied for the low round of the day) to jump 21 places up the individual leaderboard and finish tied for ninth with a two-day total of 146 (+2). Junior Matthew McKenzie of Schreiner finished in eighth place alone in the 80-player field at the Pinecrest Invitational, posting back-to-back rounds of 71 - after an opening 75 - to finish at 217 (+1). Junior Landon Chau of St. Thomas, who posted the individual highlight of the day with a hole-in-one at the par 3, 162-yard No. 17 hole, closed with a final round 73 to finish at 149 (+5) and tied for 18th at the CLU Kingsmen Invitational.
