MAGGIE PITCHER OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior goalkeeper from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 21st.
Pitcher posted her seventh shutout of the season and 13th of her career in last Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Texas Lutheran in Seguin. She played all 90 minutes and recorded five saves. The five saves are tied for the second most in a single game this season for Pitcher who is currently third in the SCAC with 34 saves on the year. Pitcher also has a sparkling save percentage of .944 on the year.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior midfielder Maddie Rodriguez of Dallas helped steady a Crusader defense that allowed just one goal in a crucial 2-1 win over Austin College last weekend. Rodriguez also chipped in offensively with a goal of her own. Junior defender Sam Davis of Southwestern anchored a defensive line that limited Schreiner to just two shots in a 1-0 Pirate victory.
