AUSTIN, Texas – Centenary kept its season alive Saturday afternoon when the Ladies handed McMurry a 6-1 loss in the first elimination contest of the 2025 SCAC Softball Tournament Championship at Roberts Family Field on the campus of Concordia University (Tex.). HOW IT HAPPENED
- McMurry scored the opening run of the game for the third consecutive game here at the SCAC Tournament when Maya Mongelli scored off an RBI sacrifice fly courtesy of Aliyah Tanguma in the home half of the second inning.
- Centenary would respond immediately in the top of the third when the Ladies exploded with five runs. The key hit came off the bat of Laine Sullivan with a bases clearing triple, scoring Catherine Stokes, Abby Touchet and Kaitlynn Alello.
- Centenary kept the War Hawks bats off balance all day thanks to the performance in the circle from Emma Shepherd. Sheperd tossed a complete game, scattering just four hits, striking out five and allowing just the one run in the second inning.
- The Ladies would add an insurance run in the top of the seventh as Brooke Sandefur scored on and RBI single from Emma Crow to complete the 6-1 victory.

NOTABLES
- Centenary improves to 15-17 all-time in SCAC Tournament action, becoming just the sixth program in conference history to reach the 15-win plateau.
- Centenary has now won at least one SCAC Tournament game in six of the last seven tournaments.
- McMurry closes out the 2025 season with an overall record of 16-19.
UP NEXT
The Ladies advance to face the winner of game six between Trinity and Concordia tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. back at Southwestern University. Meanwhile, the War Hawks are eliminated with the loss.
