NICK GORDON OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a first-year swimmer from Aurora, Colo., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Saturday, September 16 to Saturday, October 7. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 1)
Gordon got off to an impressive start in his Gents' career, recording five top-three individual finishes in a pair of double dual meets over the opening weekend.
The rookie finished third in both the 100 fly (54.57) and 50 free (22.50) in Centenary's season-opening meet on Friday in a double dual against the host University of Ozarks and Rhodes College in Clarksville, Ark. He was also part of the Gents' team that placed third in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:50.34.
On Saturday at Hendrix against the host Warriors and Rhodes again, Gordon shined as he finished third in the 100 free (50.97), 50 fly (24.23), and 200 IM (2:16.53).
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Nathan Jennings of University of the Ozarks opened up the season with victories in the 200 free (1:59.20), 100 back (1:01.24) and 200 freestyle relay leading off (24.09/1:44.39) against Centenary. Jennings also won the 100 back against Rhodes College. Sophomore Montgomery Cortez of McMurry was the sole male event winner for the War Hawks in their opening meet against UTPB.
