Lutin went the distance in goal for the Gents in their 1-0 shutout victory over Ozarks last Friday to open up SCAC play. He corralled three saves in securing his second shutout of the season. Lutin’s efforts have help Centenary secure five wins in their opening eight fixtures for the first time since the 2019 season and opened SCAC play with a win for the first time since the 2020-21 COVID-19 season.
Lutin shares this week's honor with Colorado College sophomore goalkeeper Alex Wolter.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior defender Justin Ajdukovich of Austin College anchored a ‘Roo defense that completely shut down Dallas in the team's conference-opening 3-0 win over the Crusaders. Ajdukovich and the 'Roos limited UD to just one shot on goal on their way to earning a clean sheet, with Ajdukovich consistently helping to turn away and limit any scoring chances for the Crusaders in the win. Senior midfielder Carlos Huato of Concordia did not miss a beat in his first game back in almost two years. The CDM helped engineer a 6-1 victory over McMurry as he was the only non-goalie to play all 90 minutes. Huato and the backline's defense only allowed the Warhawks to get five shots & helped Concordia create numerous counterattack opportunities on the afternoon. Senior goalkeeper Cristo Gayso of St. Thomas played all 180 minutes in net for the Celts, making 10 total saves, including eight in a 2-1 win on the road against UMHB last Wednesday. Senior defender Diego Roman of Texas Lutheran helped the Bulldogs to a key result in a 0-0 tie against Southwestern to open up SCAC play for both teams. Roman and the Bulldog defense limited Southwestern to just one shot on target en route to posting their third clean sheet of the season. Senior midfielder Braden Shuey of Trinity was a pivotal player in the Tigers’ 5-0 victory over Schreiner to open up league play for both squads on Saturday. From his defensive midfielder position, Shuey not only helped limit the Schreiner offense to just two shots, but he was also a factor offensively as well, notching an assist and a goal during his 65 minutes on the pitch.
