CARTER CODE OF TRINTIY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, February 26 through Tuesday, March 4. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 3)
Code finished tied for 12th after shooting a 74 in the final round of the Savannah Invitational to lead the 13th-ranked Trinity men's golf team to a tie for sixth place at the Savannah Invitaitonal.
Code finished the tournamnent with an even-par 216 (70-72-74), recording 12 pars and three birdies over his last 18 holes.
Competing against 20 teams, including seven ranked in the top 10 of the latest Scoreboard rankings, Trinity finished with a three-round total of 877 (293-289-295), tying with Kenyon College. The Tigers were just one shot behind Oglethorpe, which placed fifth with 876. Washington and Lee won the tournament with a total score of 855, followed by Methodist at 856 and Sewanee at 865.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Bryce Stiemert of Southwestern finished tied for 24th with a three-round total of 218 (+2) at the Savannah Invitational to lead the Pirates to a 13th-place team finish. Stiemert had 10 birdies on the weekend and his closing round 72 moved him nine places up the leaderboard. Junior Parker Smith of Concordia (Texas) finished in fifth alone at the Schreiner Shootout, which was abbreviated to 18 holes due to inclement weather. His two-under round of 70 was just three shots behind the tournament medalist from Odessa (Texas). Junior Mauricio Gamez of Schreiner had an opening round 73 to finish tied for ninth at the abbreviated Schreiner Shootout. Senior Cullen Timms of McMurry posted a top 20 finish at the Schreiner Shootout, which was shortened to 18 holes due to heavy winds on Tuesday. Timms finished Monday's opening round with a 75 to finish tied for 18th.
