DANIEL NUNEZ OF TRINTIY UNIVERSITY, a senior from Los Angeles, Calif., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, September 21 through Tuesday, September 27. SCAC Golf Release (Week 3)
Nunez fired rounds of 69 and 74 to finish in a tie for 15th with a two-day score of 143 (+3) in the 76-player field at the UMHB Invitational, mixing in three birdies in Tuesday's 18 holes of action. He led the team with seven total birdies for the tournament, tying for ninth place among all competitors.
The event was hosted by University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and contested at the 6,331-yard, par 70 Sammons Park Golf Course.
Trinity shot a combined score of 579 (290 and 289) for the two-day event and finished in sixth place, just five shots behind tournament host UMHB. East Texas Baptist won the event with a two-round score of 556 (-4).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Jeff Borchert of Centenary paced the Gents at the UMHB Invitational, finishing in a tie for 25th with rounds of 76 and 70 for a six over total of 146. His final round 70 on Tuesday moved him 16 places up the leaderboard.
