JACKSON TEER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior right-hander from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, April 22 through Sunday, April 28. His second consecutive Pitcher of the Week honor. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 12
Teer was dialed in for the ninth-ranked Tigers, pitching 8.1 innings and allowing six hits and a single run in a series-clinching win over the Gents, 5-1 on Saturday evening. The junior struck out seven batters and walked one and retired 16 out of 17 batters faced during a stretch that went from the fifth until the ninth inning, shutting down an offense that had just blasted the Tigers for 14 runs on 11 hits. Teer is currently ranked in the top five in the SCAC in both ERA (0.75 – first) and strikeouts (87 – second).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior pitcher Trystan Mallory of Austin scattered six hits across 8.0 innings while striking out eight and walking just one in earning the win over St. Thomas on Friday. Mallory allowed just one earned run in the victory over the Celts. Sophomore pitcher Kadin Munson of St. Thomas led the Celts to a win in a complete game in SCAC play over Austin College this past weekend. In 7.0 innings of work, Munson allowed just five hits and one run while striking out eight batters. Munson ended with one walk and an ERA of 1.29. Sophomore left-hander Cody Myers of Centenary led the charge in a tough luck loss to 9th-ranked Trinity. Myers was hard at work for 9.0 innings in a 3-6 road loss on Friday. He allowed ten hits, six runs and 10 strikeouts. Myers now has struck out 10+ batters in game four times this season - all four coming in conference play. First-year right-hander Nolan Sauceda of Schreiner secured a win over Dallas on Sunday for the Mountaineers. Sauceda pitched 7.0 innings last week, striking out two batters, allowing just five total hits, an ERA of 0.00 and a whip of 1.29.
