TRAJAN LEE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior right-handed pitcher from Dallas, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, February 24 through Sunday, March 2. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 4
Lee pitched in two of #15 Trinity's four games last week as the Tigers went 3-1 overall against Texas Lutheran and Concordia on the road. Lee went 2-0 in his two appearances, totaling 10.1 innings and 13 strikeouts. He scattered six hits and just two runs over his two games pitched, sporting an ERA of 1.74 for the week. Lee opened the week with 10 strikeouts over 7.0 innings to clinch a series sweep with Texas Lutheran, allowing just one run on four hits. He then earned a win in relief to clinch the series with Concordia, allowing one run on two hits over 3.1 innings and striking out three batters.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior left-hander Dakota Palmer of Concordia (Texas) tossed a complete game gem in the 4-2 win over #15/17 Trinity in game two of the three-game series between the two. Palmer struck out seven batters and only allowed eight batters on base, going the distance with 118 pitches and only two earned runs allowed. Palmer posted a WHIP of 0.89 and allowed no extra-base hits. Senior right-hander Ryan Corbett of Southwestern made two appearances agianst Ozarks, earning a win and a save in the Pirates' three-game sweep of the Eagles. Combined, Corbett pitched 5.2 innings and allowed just one hit and no runs and struck out 11 with just two walks. Senior left-hander Tyler Herrera of Centenary picked up the win on the mound in the Diamond Gents' series opener versus St. Thomas on Friday at home as he worked six innings and allowed just an earned run on two hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Herrera faced 27 batters and threw just 70 pitches as he improved to 3-1 on the season with a 2.25 ERA. First-year right-hander Brian Craig of St. Thomas delivered a solid performance on the mound, earning the win against Centenary with 6.0 innings pitched while allowing just two hits and one earned run with four strikeouts. His impressive 0.50 WHIP and .111 batting average against helped secure the conference win. First-year right-hander Isaiah Ramirez of Texas Lutheran worked 8.1 innings, allowing 12 hits with two earned runs whilt walking five and striking out five in two appearances against Trinity and Hardin-Simmons. He earned the win in the 15-2 win over HSU. Junior right-hander Jake Dempsey of Ozarks struck out eight batters over 6.0 innings in game three against Southwestern.
