Kaleb Jenkins, Trinity, Player of the Week (Week 6)

KALEB JENKINS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore guard from New Orleans, La., has been named SCAC Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Friday, February 26 through Sunday, February 28.

Jenkins set a career-high with 30 points in Saturday's regular-season finale against Schreiner to seal the top seed in the SCAC Tournament and the Tigers' eight-straight victory--the longest streak for Trinity men's basketball since the '11-'12 SCAC championship season. Jenkins added 11 rebounds in the second matchup for his first career double-double. He shot 50 percent or better from the floor and from beyond the arc for the weekend sweep.

Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Sophoore forward Seth Thomas of Centenary led the Gents on Saturday with a game-high 22 points in 39 minutes in a thrilling 71-69 home win over St. Thomas. He made 7-of-14 attempts from the floor and was 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and added eight rebounds, a steal and two blocks. Thomas, who scored 16 points on Friday, has now scored in double figures in nine of the Gents' 10 games this season. Junior guard Cameron Gims of St. Thomas averaged a double-double of 12.0 points and 14.0 rebounds over the weekend, recording multiple steals and blocks in both games as the Celts split with Centenary and secured the No. 2 seed at this weekend's upcoming SCAC tournament. His 18 rebounds on Friday are tied for the second-most in a single game in the league this season. Junior guard Jai Love of Dallas averaged 10.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game to lead the Crusaders to a sweep on the road at Colorado College this past weekend. Love currently leads the conference in assists, averaging 4.3 per contest. Senior forward Caleb Lister of Texas Lutheran averaged 14.5 points and 4.5 rebounds as the Bulldogs split a conference two-game homestand with Austin College. In Saturday's 81-55 victory, Lister scored 19, made three three-pointers and went 6-for-6 at the line. Lister played in his final regular-season game in Memorial Gymnasium. Senior forward Fisher Gates of Colorado College, in the final two games of his career, averaged 11.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game against the University of Dallas. On Friday night, Gates made four of five shots from the floor and all three of his free throws to record a career-high 12 points.
