MADDOX MCDONALD OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday, March 18 through Sunday, March 24. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 7
McDonald was outstanding last week, leading the 14th-ranked Tigers to a 3-2 record, winning two out of three games on the road against Schreiner in SCAC action. McDonald batted .700 (7-for-10) with seven runs scored, six RBI, and five stolen bases over the busy week of action for the Tigers. He went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and stole three bases in the series opener against Schreiner, which was a 10-4 Trinity win. McDonald then closed the series with another 2-for-3 performance, scoring three runs and driving in four more to account for half of the team’s runs in a 14-1 victory.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year infielder Ben Feuer of Southwestern batted .300 (6-for-20) at the plate to lead the Pirates to a perfect 4-0 record last week, including an SCAC series sweep of St. Thomas. Feuer tallied at least one hit in all four contests and finished with five RBI, four runs scored and one stolen base. Sophomore infielder Jake Amoroso of Dallas led the Crusaders at the plate last week, hitting .313 (5-for-16) with five RBI, three runs scored and one home run. His efforts lifted the Crusaders to a 3-2 record, including the first series win over Texas Lutheran since 2016. Senior outfielder Kyle Bearden of St. Thomas batted a remarkable .583 in a three-game series against TLU last week, recording at least one hit in each game and finishing the weekend going 7-for-12. Bearden recorded a pair of doubles, scored twice, stole one base, recorded one walk and finished with a .615 on-base percentage. Senior infielder Jobee Boone of Centenary had a big week at the plate for the Diamond Gents as he hit a sizzling .438 (7-16) with a home run, seven RBI, four runs scored, a pair of multi-hit performances, two 3-RBI efforts, two walks, a stolen base, and only one strikeout in 16 at-bats. Junior utility Xavier Arias of Texas Lutheran went 5-for-12 (.417) on the week for the Bulldogs, driving in four runs, scoring three and smashing one home run, while posting a .667 slugging percentage in a three-game series against Dallas.
