MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Junior pitcher Mike Walker of Trinity University and juior first baseman Justin Law of Texas Lutheran University were both named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for their performance this past weekend.
Earlier, Walker, a junior out of Humble, Texas, received Pitcher of the Week accolades for his performances.
Last Sunday, Walker finished off a three-game home sweep as the 18th-ranked Tigers beat the University of Dallas Crusaders 12-0 in a run-rule matchup. Walker (2-1) hurled six shutout innings, allowing just two hits, while facing 21 Crusaders batters. He did not yield a walk, and struck out six players in the process.
This season, Walker has worked for 13.2 innings on the mound, and has posted a team-best 1.98 ERA over three appearances. He has allowed three earned runs, and has limited opposing teams to a .191 batting average.
Law, a junior from Houston, enjoyed a spectacular
offensive weekend, helping the Bulldogs finish the week
2-2.
He finished with eight hits over the four games and a .571
batting average. Three of those eight hits were of the extra-base
variety, as he finished with two doubles and a triple.
Law drove in three runs and finished with a team-high four
walks. He is now tied for the team lead with 11 RBI on the
year.
The first-year Bulldog recorded two hits in each of the four
games over the week. He ripped an RBI triple in the Bulldogs' home
win over Mary Hardin-Baylor.
This season, Law is hitting .395 from the dish with four doubles, a triple, and a team leading 13 RBIs. He also leads the team in slugging percentage with a .553 mark and is second on the team in on base percentage at .479.
Both Walker and Law are the first two SCAC players to earn a spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week.
