Trinity University Women Hold Early Lead After Day One of the 2015 SCAC Swimming & Diving Championships

At the completion of Wednesday's session, the Trinity University women have 104 points, followed closely by Southwestern University with 92 points. Centenary College and Colorado College both scored 72 points and are tied for third, Austin College is fifth with 56 points, and McMurry University - competing in its inaugural SCAC championship meet - is sixth with 30 points.

The CC Tigers started the championships off with a victory in the 200 medley relay team as Olivia Dilorati, Megan Gillespie, Ellen Silk and Justina Zuckerman out-touched Trinity at the wall in a winning time of 1:46.61 - a new school record and the second-fastest time in SCAC championship history. It was Colorado College's second consecutive win in the event. Trinity had to settle for second in a time of 1:46.71. Southwestern was third in a time of 1:49.44.

Trinity's Lauren Cuda, Lydia Jones, Rachel Hure and Bethany Rysak earned a first-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:44.08 - the third fastest finish in SCAC meet history. Southwestern University finished second in a time of 7:59.61 and Centenary College came in third with a time of 8:04.36.

Competition continues on Thursday with preliminaris beginning at 10:30 a.m., women's 1-meter diving at 1:30 p.m. and finals at 6:30 p.m. Click here for the complete schedule of events.
