Trinity Men Ranked Fifth in NSCAA Preseason Polls

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Trinity University men's soccer team will open the 2014 season ranked No. 5 in the country as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced their preseason poll on Friday afternoon.

Seven starters will lead the 2014 edition of the Tigers, led by senior All-American midfielder Victor Araujo, senior All-Regional forward Johnny Lawson, and junior All-Regional goalkeeper Matt Cardone. 

In 2013, the Trinity team advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the eighth time, finishing the season with a 21-3-1 record. It marked Trinity’s 12th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and 17th of the previous 18 seasons. The Tigers were ranked fourth in the nation by D3soccer.com, and sixth by the NSCAA. Trinity also won its 16th Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.

Coach McGinlay was elected the NSCAA West Region Coach of the Year for the eighth time.

Trinity opens the campaign at home, taking on Washington University in St. Louis on August 29 at the Paul McGinlay Soccer Field.
