LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. –Two of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s swimming & diving teams competed this weekend.
Centenary College
The Ladies competed in the 47th annual Hendrix
Classic Saturday afternoon, earning a fourth place finish with 137
points. Alexandria Taylor earned the first points of the meet for
Centenary, finishing fifth in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time
of 11:47.67. Chelsea Russell followed that up with a fifth place
finish in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.81. In the 50
yard freestyle, Caitlyn Faulhaber was the only CC swimmer to finish
within the top 10, taking ninth place with a time of 26.83. Jane
Barney earned a seventh place finish in the 100 yard freestyle with
a time of 59.27, while Faulhaber finished behind her in
10th with a time of 1:00.92. Russell earned the top
finish of the day for Centenary, finishin second in the 200 yard
backstroke with a time of 2:16.42.
Southwestern
The Southwestern Pirates earned a dominating win to open
their season as they played host to Wayland Baptist Saturday. The
women earned a 188-60 victory. The Pirates began the day with a win
in the 200 yard medley relay, finishing with a time of 1:56.85. The
team’s 200 free relay also earned a win with a time of
1:44.44. Alex Morris earned the first win for the team in the 1000
freestyle with a time of 11:39.07 and Madison Doty picked up two
wins on the day in the 200 free and 100 free. The Pirates also went
1-2-3 in the 100 backstroke as Ryann Lawley led the team with a
time of 1:04.25 for the win. In diving, Abby Miller won both the 1
meter and 3 meter competitions with 149.12 points and 164.75
points, respectively.
