Trinity Men Slip to Eighth in NSCAA Week One Rankings

KANSAS CITY, Kan.
- The National Soccer Coaches Association of American released its first regular season rankings for the 2014 season, and, despite two opening-weekend victories, the Trinity University men slipped three places from fifth to eighth. Complete Poll

The Tigers opened the season at home with a match against the College of St. Scholastica. Trinity earned the 3-1 victory with goals coming from All-America senior midfielder Victor Araujo as well as one each from freshmen Brent Mandelkorn and Dylan Blumberg.

Senior goalkeeper Matt Cardone recorded nine saves over the weekend, with four coming against the Saints and five more in Sunday's 1-0 shutout of No. 16 Washington University (Mo.). Mandelkorn scored the Tigers' only goal in that contest.

The Tigers will continue the 2014 season in Georgetown, Texas against Hardin-Simmons on Friday, September 5 and the University of Texas-Dallas on Saturday, September 6.
