LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - It was a bye week in conference play as only five of the eight SCAC volleyball schools were in action with only on team playing more than one match.
All eight teams will return to action this weekend as they will all meet in Seguin, Texas as Texas Lutheran University to compete in Cross Division play for the second time this season.
Austin College
For the 17th straight season, the Austin College
volleyball team picked up 20 wins on the season as they defeated
Arlington Baptist in their lone match of the weekend, winning 3-1.
Presleigh Watson led the way for the 'Roos, picking up 12 kills
while Madi McVay added 11 kills. Rachel Fusselman had 22 digs while
Lauren Wulz had 19 assists. Rebekah Bowden was a menace
defensively, picking up seven blocks in the match.
Centenary College
In their lone match of the week, the Centenary Ladies
fell to Mississippi College in straight sets. The Ladies were led
by Desiree Frey, who had 14 kills and seven digs while Rachel
Perkins added 13 assists. Lindsey Long and Haley Cubberly also
added seven digs on the evening.
Colorado College
In their lone match of the week, ninth-ranked Colorado
College cruised to a straight set win over Johnson & Wales.
With the win, the Tigers move to 24-4 on the season. Abbe Holtze
was terrific with 14 kills and 10 digs while Kristen Liberty added
10 kills on the evening. Rebecca Watson was key, picking up 25
assists while Sophie Merrifield added 14 digs. The Tigers hit a
blistering .284 in the match and have now won five games in a
row.
University of
Dallas
Dallas cruised in their only match of the weekend,
defeating McMurry in straight sets to move to 18-9 on the year. The
Crusaders were led by Emily Caples and Christine Jablonsky with
eight kills each while Cat Dowgwillo added seven kills. C.J.
Broadbent added 28 assists. Defensively, Broadbent and Jessie
Koster each had 13 digs while Jaime Birzer and Dowgwillo each added
four blocks.
Trinity
University
The 15th-ranked Trinity University volleyball team
had a tough weekend in Wisconsin, going 1-3 on the weekend
including a pair of heartbreaking 3-2 losses to Wisconsin-Eau
Claire and Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Layne Hubbard put together a
fantastic weekend, finishing with 35 kills and 85 digs (5.00/set)
to go along with five blocks. Maggie Emodi led the way offensively
with 78 kills for the weekend.
Schreiner University, Southwestern University, and Texas Lutheran University did not compete this weekend.
