AMITY, Maine - Millsaps senior offensive lineman John Shivers and Sewanee-The University of the South junior defensive back Chalankis Brown were named to the 2009 Concensus Draft Services (CDS) Division III Preseason All-America first-teams.
Shivers is a two-time first-team All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference selection. In 2008 Shivers was named a third-team D3football.com All-American. He helped lead a Millsaps offensive line that allowed just 14 sacks in 821 total plays ranking first in the SCAC in scoring offense, total offense and pass offense.
Brown was selected as a first-team All-SCAC selection for the second straight season and was also named a D3football.com third-team All-Region selection. He led the SCAC this year with seven interceptions and 186 interception return yards. Brown totaled 57 tackles and broke up five passes. He also recovered two fumbles and blocked three kicks on the year.
