COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) recently awarded Brian Coxon (Louisville, Ky.) with its annual All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year award.

This year, the NSCA awarded 206 collegiate athletes from 119 schools with this esteemed award. The NSCA All-American Athlete of the Year Award program is in its 30th year and is made possible by a grant from Power Systems, Inc., a Knoxville, Tenn., fitness product leader.

Coxon was selected by the Centre College strength coach Carter Conley, who said, "Coxon is our offensive line's enforcer. Our line looks to him on Saturday afternoon and during training. His competitive nature is infectious as he pushes everyone around him to get better with every rep. He is both feared and respected by his peers, and his accolades and accomplishments validate those sentiments. Coxon not only understands the necessity of out-training and out-performing his opponent but he relishes every opportunity to compete and test himself. He has an old school grit that accompanies his explosive athletism forming a lethal football player. Having a starting O-lineman who can sprint down with your kick-off team and make plays is unheard of and speaks volumes of his desire. Simply put -- the kid is a beast!"

Coxon was also awarded the Bo McMillin Award for Most Valuable Offensive Player this past season as well as being named to the 2008 SCAC All-Conference Second Team.
