MARIETTA, Ohio - Chrys Jones of Centre College set a new Don Drumm Stadium record with his winning triple jump at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The individual national title is the 19th all-time for a SCAC student-athlete and third this year. Official championships website

Jones (pictured left), a sophomore from Harrodsburg, Ky., jumped 50 feet, 3 1/4 inches to earn the national title in the event, the first-ever for a Centre College student-athlete. He is the first male SCAC student-athlete to win a national title at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships since Rose-Hulman's Chris Trapp won back-to-back-to-back javelin titles from 1984-1986.

In addition to Jones' All-American performance in the triple jump, Trinity University's senior Todd Wildman was runner-up Saturday in the 110-meter hurdles.

Wildman (pictured right), who garnered his second All-America recognition at the meet - and third overall - ran the hurdles in 14.29 seconds at Marietta College. He was .05 seconds behind the winner, Edgar Townsend of Greenville College, with a time of 14.24 seconds.

Wildman registered a mark of 6 feet, 6 inches (1.98) meters for a 12th-place finish Saturday in the high jump and just failed to qualify for the finals in the 400-meter hurdles with a 52.95 finish in his heat.

Jonathan Mervin, a sophomore from Rhodes College, also participated in the 400-meter hurdles, but failed to qualify for the finals with a finish of 55.06 in his heat.

The Trinity University men, led by first-year head coach David Svoboda, placed in a tie for sixth place (with Whitworth) in the outdoor team competition, with 23 points, their highest-ever finish. Trinity also placed sixth at the NCAA Indoor meet.
