TUPELO, Miss. - The Birmingham-Southern women's
golf team turned in another strong round today at Tunica National
to take the team and individual wins in the Rhodes Collegiate
Invitational.
The team scored a 311 in the second round for a combined 619 total for both days of play to take the overall team lead. They beat SCAC rival DePauw University (672) by an impressive 53 strokes. Two time defending SCAC champion Southwestern (685) finished in fourth place behind Bethel College (676).
The individual leader-board looked good for the Panthers as well. Gaukhar Amandossova finished in first place, shooting a 76 on the day for a 151 two-day total. Teammate Jordan Hardy finished one stroke back at 152, and Ashley Lovell, who led after the first round of competition, closed strong finishing with a 155 for third place.
BSC had the best team totals in both rounds. They turned in a 308 in round one before adding the 311 in today's play. The win is the third this season for the Panthers. The win closes the most successful season of golf in school history, with three tournament wins, one second place finish in the Berry Classic and a third-place showing in the Yale University Invitational.
