GREENCASTLE, Ind. - On the eve of the start of
the NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles Championships, DePauw
sophomore Janelle Arita has been named the Intercollegiate Tennis
Association Division III Player to Watch.
Arita competes in the 32-player Division III Singles Championship
beginning tomorrow at 9 a.m. at the Collins Hill Athletic Club in
Lawrenceville, Ga. She opens play against top-seeded Siobhan
Finicane of Pomona-Pitzer.
This years Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the
Year runner-up, Arita posted a 23-10 record at number-one singles
and is 49-19 in her career. She also was 21-10 in doubles action,
lifting her career mark to 47-16.
Liz Bondi '07 earned the ITA Player to Watch Award in 2003 and
later won the Division III Singles title in 2007.
