LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Trinity University finished its season with a 42-13 win over visiting Austin College on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers ended the season at 7-3 while the Kangaroos finish 2012 at 2-8.

Austin College jumped on top early but Trinity
scored 28 unanswered points on its way to handing the 'Roos a 42-13
loss on Saturday afternoon in San Antonio. With the loss the 'Roos
end the season with a record of 2-8. A three yard touchdown run
from Madison Ross following an early interception for the 'Roos put
Austin College on top 7-0 less than three minutes into the game,
but the Tigers countered just over a minute later and added three
touchdowns in the second quarter to go into the locker room leading
28-7. Devin Smith got his first career touchdown with 9:33 left in
the third quarter to cut it to 28-13, but the Tigers scored 14
straight to end the game and make it a 42-13 final. Ross finished
with 85 yards on 22 carries and Broc Boyd added 52 on 12 carries to
lead an offense that gained 194 yards on the ground but was limited
to 38 through the air. William Gadberry made six tackles and Brooks
Ward and Shane Hodge each had an interception to lead the 'Roos
defensively.
Trinity completed its season with a 42-13 win over Austin
College on Saturday, finishing with an overall record of 7-3 for
the year. Tiger running back Patrick Granchelli became the ninth
player in school history to reach 2,000 career rushing yards,
leading the team with 89 yards on 15 carries against the
‘Roos. He is the first player since Chris Baer (2005-09) to
achieve the milestone. Quarterback Mason Blaschke accounted for
five of Trinity’s six touchdowns on Saturday, completing 9-17
for 230 yards and four scores. He threw three touchdown passes of
over 45 yards in the game – all coming in the first half of
play. Blaschke also scored his 11th rushing touchdown of the
season, which is tied for the fourth-most in school history for a
single season. Tight end Mason Lytal caught two passes for over 100
yards receiving and two touchdowns. Lytal finishes the season with
11 touchdown receptions, which is the most by a Trinity player
since the 2002 season, and is the sixth-highest total in school
history. Trinity’s defense forced two turnovers in the game,
and scored the final touchdown on a fumble recovery in the end
zone. Trevor Holt picked up the fumble for his first career score.
Linebackers Nick Darling and Thomas Puskarich both had double-digit
tackles in the game. Kicker Garrett Biel finishes off his career
with a perfect 6-6 on extra point attempts. He converted 46-48 this
season for the second-highest percentage (95.8) in Trinity single
season history. The 46 PAT’s is also fourth in Tiger
football history for one year.
