LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Centenary College junior guard Jonathan Blount was named to the 2013 Men's DIII News All-America team, the organization announced today. Complete Release
Blount was named to the Honorable Mention team and was the only
Southern Collegeiate Athletic Conference men's basketball player
named to the team.
After averaging 16.9 points per game as a sophomore in Centenary's
only season in the American Southwest Conference, Blount made an
immediate impact in the SCAC and led the league in both points
scored (441) and scoring average (21.0).
The junior guard scored 25+ points eight times this season, and was the only player in the league to have two 30+ point performances.
Blount was also sixth in the SCAC in field goal percentage
(47.8%), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (37.9%) and
seventh in free throw percentage (73.6%). And despite missing three
games this season, he led the league in made free throws (128) and
was ninth in the league in total three-point field goals made
(33).
Blount joined Rose-Hulman's Bryan Egli, who was named SCAC
Player-of-the-Year in 1998-99, as the only players to earn league
POTY honors in his team's first season of competition in the
conference.
