MOBILE, Ala. - Trinity Tiger men's tennis player Aaron Skinner won 6-3, 6-1 in the ITA Small College National Singles Championships on Friday, advancing to the tomorrow's title match.

Trinity has not won the ITA Singles National Championship since Jamie Broach in 1997.  The Tiger men's team of Bobby Cocanougher and Cory Kowal won the 2010 Doubles Championship, while Stefan Parker and Sean Fifield also won in doubles in 2003.  Broach pulled off a rare feat in 1997, winning both the singles title, and the doubles final with Michael Slutzky.

Skinner defeated fourth-seeded Andy Hersh of Johns Hopkins University on Friday, and will take on Robert Kjellberg of North Carolina Wesleyan in Saturday's final.  Kjellberg knocked off the #2 seed 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the other semifinal today.  After winning his play-in match on Wednesday to start the tournament, Skinner then took down the singles top seed in Washington (MO) University's Adam Putterman.

Trinity is led by Head Coach Russell McMindes, who is in his 11th season coaching with the Tigers, and his fourth as the head coach.  He has led Trinity to three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships and three NCAA Playoff appearances in his first three years.
