TOWSON, Md. - Trinity University women's soccer players Shelby Guenthardt and Jennifer White were both selected to the Capital One Academic All-America® Third Team.

The juniors were both previously chosen for the Capital One Academic All-District First Team, making them both eligible for the national award. Guenthardt is an Engineering major, while White is majoring in Neuroscience.

Both were key players on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship team that advanced to the NCAA Playoffs for the third time in their three-year careers. The Tigers were eliminated on penalty kicks in the second round of the playoffs.

White anchored a Trinity defense that allowed just 10 goals in 19 games, recording 13 shutouts on the year. White started every game for the Tigers in 2012, scoring one goal and two assists from her defensive position.

Guenthardt led Trinity with 20 goals and 42 total points this season, netting three game-winning goals. Her 20 goals are a career-high for the junior forward, and it is the second straight season that the Tigers have had a player score 20 or more goals during the year.

Head Coach Lance Key completed his ninth season with the Tigers in 2012, having won six conference titles to go with eight NCAA Playoff appearances. Key has led Trinity to the NCAA Quarterfinals twice during his tenure, and he came into the season ranked fourth in winning percentage among active coaches in Division III.
