SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Trinity University men won their fourth consecutive SCAC men's tennis title Sunday morning - a 9-0 shutout of Colorado College - at the Butch Newman Tennis Center on the campus of Trinity. Official Tournament Website
In the third-place match, which ended later on Sunday afternoon, Southwestern University defeated Austin College, 5-3. Southwestern had advanced after defeating Centenary College, 5-0, earlier in the day. The results of the third-place match are listed below.
Trinity improved its season record to 18-9 with the win, which was the 18th overall conference title for the storied program. That marks the most championships won in one sport by any school in the SCAC era.

The match started last night, as the two teams attempted to finish before thunderstorms hit the San Antonio area. Trinity swept the three doubles matches by identical 8-2 scores, then the action was postponed early in singles play.
On Sunday, Trinity finished off the victory with six singles wins. Senior Erick DelaFuente won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles to clinch for the Tigers. DelaFuente teamed with Jordan Mayer for a line one doubles win on Saturday night, and Mayer also scored a 6-1, 6-1 singles victory for the Tigers.
Aaron Skinner won 6-0, 6-2 at line one singles, which followed his No. 2 doubles win with Nicolas Moreno yesterday. Greg Haugen teamed with Connor Dunn to win the final doubles point, and both players also won in singles. Haugen won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, while Dunn was a 6-1, 6-0 win in the sixth position. Charlie Curtis finished off the scoring with his 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
Head Coach Russell McMindes has led the program to four SCAC Championships in his four seasons at the helm of the Tiger team. Trinity receives the SCAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs with the win, and will await the official announcements in early May.
