LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - With a 31-7 victory over Texas Lutheran, Trinity University extended its regular season winning streak to 13 games.

Austin College grabbed a halftime lead for the second straight week but was unable to hang on against East Texas Baptist, falling 17-7 to the Tigers to go to 0-2 on the year. Austin Rainer, making his first collegiate start at quarterback, found Madison Ross for an 18 yard touchdown strike in the second quarter to send the ‘Roos into halftime up 7-0, but the Tigers scored twice in a five minute span between the end of the third and the start of the fourth and would add a field goal with eight minutes left in the game to hand the ‘Roos the defeat. Sean Sweeney gained 84 yards on 19 carries to lead the ‘Roos offensively while Nathan Packard made 12 tackles and Tre Stewart added nine stops including 2.0 for loss to lead Austin College defensively. This weekend the ‘Roos hit the road to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.

No. 11 Trinity
won its first road game of the season to improve to 2-0 on the year, defeating Texas Lutheran University 31-7 on Saturday night. The Tigers have now won 11 of the last 13 meetings with the Bulldogs. Quarterback Nykolas McKissic accounted for four touchdowns in the game, including his first rushing touchdown of the season. McKissic piled up 263 yards and three scores through the air to lead the Tigers to the victory. Trinity’s defense held Texas Lutheran to 167 yards of offense in the game, recording a total of seven sacks and 11 tackles for loss. Tomy Boboy recorded 3.0 sacks for a loss of 20 yards in the game, tallying five total tackles for the Tigers. Thomas Puskarich finished with 10 tackles and 1.5 sacks on the night. Trinity will play its second straight road game this week, traveling to Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. The Tigers and Lobos have not played since 1981, which was a 48-0 shutout win for Sul Ross. Trinity leads the all-time series with a record of 9-8, but Sul Ross has won three consecutive games against the Tigers.
