KIONA HSIU OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Missouri City, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played through September 21. SCAC Golf Release (Week 1)
Hsiu took medalist honors at the TLU Lady Bulldog Classic, shooting a tournament-low round of 70 on Monday followed by a 76 on Tuesday as she navigated the 5,645 yard, par 71 Starcke Park Municipal Course in Seguin, Texas in 146 strokes and finished three shots clear of the field with at +4.
Hsiu's opening round 70 marks her first round under par with the Tigers, besting her 2020 low score of 76.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Katherine Montgomery of Southwestern fired rounds of 79 and 75 to post a top 10 finish at the TLU Lady Bulldog Classic. She finished in eighth place with a two-day total of 154 (+12) to lead the Pirates to a third-place finish. First-year Kimberly Burch of Dallas finished 14th in the 54 player field to lead the Crusaders to a sixth place finish at the TLU Lady Bulldog Classic. Burch had rounds of 80 and 79 to finish at 159 (+17). First-year Braydee Frederick of Texas Lutheran posted a top 15 finish to pace her squad at TLU's Lady Bulldog Classic. She had rounds of 79 and 81 to finish tied for 15th with a two-day total of 160 (+18). First-year Shelby Vetere of Schreiner paced the Mountaineers with rounds of 83 and 83 (171, +29) at the TLU Lady Bulldog Classic.
