HAO NGUYEN AND ERIC LIAO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, have been named the SCAC Men’s Doubles Team of the Week for matches played from Monday, March 20 through Sunday, March 26. SCAC Men's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 8
Nguyen, a senior from Sugar Land, Texas, and Liao, a sophomore from Taipei, Taiwan, led the 11th-ranked Tigers to a pair of wins over nationally-ranked opponents last week, defeating both No. 20 Colby College (Me.) and No. 37 Pacific University (Ore.) by identical 8-1 scores.
Nguyen and Liao jump-started a doubles sweep by defeating a regionally-ranked top line team from Colby, then finished off a doubles sweep against Pacific on Sunday. The duo improved to 8-3 in dual matches together, including a 5-1 mark at No. 1 doubles.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Bernie Clemente and first-year Parth Patel of Southwestern earned the second point for the 19th-ranked Pirates in Thursday's 5-4 victory over No. 20 Colby (Me.), winning 8-4 at line two doubles. Senior Rodrigo Yoshikata and senior Jace Ware of St. Thomas went 2-0 on the week against SCAC rivals TLU and Schreiner. Against the Bulldogs, the top line duo won, 8-4. and against Schreiner they edged their opponent, 8-6. Junior Dennis Miller and junior Cole Reed of Schreiner helped clinch match against St. Thomas with a victory at No. 2 doubles in Saturday's 5-4 conference win.
