Trinity 28th; Centre 35th in 2011-2012 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup fall standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Currently in 28th place, Trinity University leads all SCAC institutions in the prestigious 2011-2012 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup fall standings. Centre College is just seven places back in 35th place. Complete NACDA Release

Trinity has amassed 139 points in the standings, based on NCAA postseason competition, on the strength of its ninth place finish in women's soccer and 17th place in football and men's soccer. Centre College has 127 points on the heels of its ninth place finish in football, 17th place finish in women's soccer and 31st place finishes in both men's and women's cross country.

Washington (Mo.) University leads all of Division III with 372 points. Middlebury (Vt.) College is second with 359 points and Amherst (Mass.) College follows closely in third with 264 points.

Other SCAC schools in the final fall rankings include Colorado College (82 points - 56th place), Rhodes College (35 points - 120th place), Oglethorpe University (25 points - 123rd place) and Southwestern University (25 points - 123rd place).

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men's.

To date, all seven fall NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: women’s soccer - Messiah (Pa.); men’s soccer - Ohio Wesleyan; volleyball - Wittenberg (Ohio); women’s cross country - Washington (Mo.); men’s cross country - North Central (Il.); field hockey - The College of New Jersey; football - Wisconsin Whitewater.
