Hahn's National Title Highlights the Final Day at the 2012 NCAA Swimming/Diving Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Trinity University junior Ruth Hahn won the NCAA Division III Championship in three-meter diving Saturday at 2012 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the IU Natatorium. Official Men's Site | Official Women's Site | Results

Hahn stood in fourth place after Saturday afternoon's preliminaries, but she scored 481.00 in the finals to win Trinity's third NCAA title in the sport of diving.

The national championship was the second of the 2012 NCAA Championships after Colorado College’s Jordan DeGayner claimed the men’s 200-yard freestyle title on Thursday and is the 29th overall individual SCAC national championship.

Other highlights from the final day of competition included Centre sophomore Clark Weber who earner all-American honor in the women’s 1,650 freestyle.

Weber finished in 17:07.12 claiming sixth place. She earned honorable mention all-America in the event as a freshman a year ago in Knoxville.

Freshman Danielle Wahl finished 10th in the 1,650-yard freestyle to lead the Colorado College contingent on the final day of the 2012 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.

Wahl completed the race in a time of 17:13.90, which was just .74 seconds behind Kenyon’s Dominique Chevalier in the race for ninth place. She finished 2.18 seconds ahead of New York University’s Margaret Rippe.

Senior Jordan DeGayner of CC concluded his collegiate career by finishing sixth in the consolation finals and 14th overall in the 100 free. His clocking of 45.51 was only .62 seconds behind the 10th overall time of 44.89 turned in by Carleton’s Erik Klontz.

Sewanee swimmers Courtland Day and Phillip Link earned NCAA all-American honors in the 200-yard breaststroke. For Link and Day, the two Tigers finished inside the top-16 in the prelims. Day finished 10th (2:03.74) while Link was one spot behind his teammate in 11th (2:03.94).
 
Later Saturday, in the consolation finals, Link finished in 13th place with a time of 2:05.02 while Day placed 15th after he touched the wall in 2:06.23.

Trinity Tiger swimmer Melanie Gustafson finished 16th in the 1,650 freestyle race, also earning Honorable Mention All-America status in the event.

The 2012 Division III Swimming and Diving Championships closed out Saturday evening with Denison taking home the title on the men’s side while Emory was crowned champion on the women’s.
