SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference placed four football student-athletes on the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District® football teams, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Birmingham-Southern College placed a league-high three student-athletes on the teams. Centre College rounded out the SCAC's selections as the Colonels placed one student-athlete on the team.
Senior offensive lineman John Michael Falligant, a psychology major, carries a 3.63 Grade Point Average (GPA) and earned District 5 first-team honors. Teammate and junior defensive back Andrew Shannon, a business administration major, earned first-team honors with a 3.30 GPA. Senior densive lineman Bryan Jackson also earned first-team laurels while maintaining a 3.52 GPA as a business administration major.
Centre senior defensive back Kent Crick earned District 2 first-team honors. He carries a 3.78 GPA as a psychology major.
As first-team selections, Falligant, Shannon, Jackson and Crick will now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
