Four SCAC individuals qualify for 2012 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. 
— The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced Monday the participants in the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships and four SCAC student-athletes are among the field. Complete Release

Tiarra Goode of Birmingham-Southern College (pictured right) qualified for two events. The sophomore qualified with the fourth-best time in the 60 meter hurdles (8.78) and the 12th-best time in the 60 meters (7.77).

Goode is joined by teammate and fellow sophomore Jessica Thornton, who qualified with the sixth-best time in the 800 meter run (2:12.60).

Sophomore Elizabeth Krug of Hendrix College qualified for the pentathlon with the eighth-best performance of the season - 3275 points.

On the men's side, junior Robert Willett of Birmingham-Southern is seeded third in the 800 meter run with a season-best time of 1:51.83. 

For each woman's individual event including the pentathlon, the top 15 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each men's individual event including the heptathlon, the top 13 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 10 declared relay teams — one per school — were accepted into the competition.

The championships will be held March 9-10 at Grinnell College in Waverly, Iowa.
