TUNICA, Miss. – In its last year as a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, Centre College won its first-ever Women's Golf Championship with a commanding performace at the 2012 Championships contested at The Links at Cottonwoods in Tunica, Miss. Complete Final Round Results
The Colonels led start to finish and posted a three-day total of 946 to post a 33-shot victory over second-place Birmingham-Southern College, who finished second with a team score of 979.
Senior all-American Emily Bachert fired her second consecutive round of 77 to finish with a three-day total of 228 - the best three-day total in SCAC women's tournament history (since the event moved to a 54-hole format in 2008).
Bachert earned medalist honors and the 2012 SCAC Women's Golfer-of-the-Year award for her efforts.
Centre's Allyssa Brown, who joined Bachert on the All-SCAC First Team, was named 2012 SCAC Freshman-of-the-Year.
Southwestern University finished third with a three-day total of 999 and Rhodes College and Trinity University followed closely with team scores of 1001 and 1003 respectively.
Rounding out the team scores, Oglethorpe University placed sixth with a team score of 1038, Hendrix College was seventh at 1236 and Sewanee finished eighth with a three-day total of 1249.
