The Panthers were off this week but
return to action on Wednesday against LaGrange on the road.
Birmingham-Southern also takes on Agnes Scott on
Friday and Centre on Sunday, both at home.
Centre defeated Berry 18-15 in the Colonels lone
game of the week. Centre was led by Meg Hawthorne in the win
posting nine goals and an assist as the Colonels have now won four
straight matches improving to 7-1 on the year.
Senior attacker Leslie Jacoby scored 3:20 into overtime as
Colorado College overcame a five-goal deficit in
the second half to record a 9-8 victory over Mount Holyoke College
on Sunday. Jacoby took a feed from freshman midfielder Leigh
Nicholl, who was stationed behind the right post, and buried the
winning shot from 12 feet away. Sophomore defender Sheridan Gribbon
set up the deciding sequence when she intercepted a pass near
midfield and carried the ball into CC's offensive zone before
passing to Nicholl. After falling behind 7-2 a little more than
four minutes the second half, junior midfielder Ginna Oates ignited
the Colorado College rally when she converted on a pair of
free-position attempts in a span 1:40. Nicholl and Grace Maloney
cut the Tigers’ deficit to 7-6 with 10:35 remaining. The
Lyon's scored their final goal 1:30 later to take an 8-6 lead, but
goals by junior attacker Ellie Cole and freshman attacker Madeline
Pitkin tied the score with 4:25 to play in regulation. After being
outshot 15-8 during the first 36 minutes, the Tigers launched 21
shots during the closing 23:41 of regulation and the six-minute
overtime while allowing just five by the Lyons. Junior goaltender
Abby Fink finished with 10 saves for CC, while Gribbon led the
defense with five ground balls, two caused turnovers and a pair of
draw controls. The overtime victory was the first for Colorado
College since defeating Regis University, 14-11, on April 3, 2010,
in Durango, Colo. The last time CC won an overtime game at Stewart
Field was on May 15, 2005, when it came from behind to defeat
Cortland State, 10-9, in the regional final of the NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers play host to Carthage College, Frostburg State
University, Babson College and Sewanee this week.
Dallas (2-3, 0-2 SCAC) went 1-1 on the week in a pair of

four games in seven days while going 2-2 on the weekend with wins
over North Carolina Wesleyan and Hollins University. Millsaps
started the week by falling to Tennessee Wesleyan on Monday by a
score of 17-8. The Majors returned to take on NC Wesleyan and put
it all together on that Wednesday afternoon as they set records for
goals in half, winning margin, and tied for the most goals scored
in the game as they routed North Carolina Wesleyan 17-5 to pick up
their second win of the season. Haleigh Williams had a huge day
with six goals, three groundballs, two assists, and six caused
turnovers. Jamie Blair Page, Laura Gray, and Kenya Strong-Johnston

from many different players on this day. Sophomore Haleigh Williams

her days. Fellow sophomore Jamie Blair Page picked up three goals
and four assists while freshman Mary Beasley added four goals.
Freshman Kendall Fann also had a great day with two goals and three
assists as well as five draw controls and four ground balls.

Before being rained out Saturday, the Sewanee
women’s lacrosse team earned two more wins last week. First,
against Wooster Tuesday, the Tigers found themselves down 12-4 with
17:35 left to play. Fortunately, for Sewanee, that is when things
really turned around. After goals by Meg Welton, Molly Arnold, and
Shelby Bartlett Sewanee cut the lead to five, 12-7. After the
ensuing draw control, Sewanee quickly marched down the field again.
This time Arnold netted her fourth goal, with 10:57 to play. Things
continued to go the Tigers' way when Sally Anne Greenwood, Mallory
Grimm, and Ellie Murphy pulled Sewanee to within one, 12-11, with
3:23 left. The Tigers then tied the match 21 seconds later, when
Murphy found Arnold in front of the net. Wooster tried to respond
late, however Sewanee goalkeeper Amy Nusbaum stood strong with two
final saves. In overtime, Sewanee dominated the possession battle
in both three minutes periods. The Tigers scored a free position
goal from Olivia Vietor with 2:32 left. Moments later, Vietor then
added an assist on a goal by Ellie Murphy. Two days later, Sewanee
used another strong second half to down Greensboro College 16-14.
In that contest, Sewanee got multiple goals from Arnold, Page
Carpenter, Anna Morrow, and Mallory Grimm. This week the Tigers
will continue their west coast swings with matches against Redlands
(Monday), Whittier (Wednesday), and Colorado College
(Saturday).
